Partner Events—Sign up with a Partner
Spring Shamble
- An 18-hole low net tournament. Players will sign up as a twosome and will be paired with another twosome to create one 4-person team. Handicap indexes will be capped 60.8 for each twosome.
- Each player drives the ball. The team will select which drive to use and then each player will play their own ball in from that point. The team must use at least three drives from each player.
- The team will score two net best balls of the foursome for each hole.
- Scores from this event are not to be posted.
- The handicap reduction will be 85%.
- The overall winner of this event will be the 1st place low net team from the field.
Best Ball
- An 18-hole low net tournament for teams of two players. Handicap indexes will be capped at 8 for each twosome.
- Players will score one net best ball of the two.
- CWGA will post scores for this event.
- Handicap reduction will be assigned according to USGA Rules.
- The overall winner of this event will be the 1st place low net team from the field.
Chapman Scotch
- An 18-hole low net tournament for teams of two players. Handicap indexes will be capped at 60.8 for each twosome.
- Alternate shot play. Each player drives the ball. The players then hit each other’s drive. They then select one ball to be played in, alternating shots until the ball is holed out.
- Each two-person team will have one net score for each hole.
- Scores from this event are not to be posted.
- Handicap reduction will be assigned according to USGA Rules.
- The overall winner of this event will be the 1st place low net team from the field.
Two-Ball
- An 18-hole low net tournament. Players will sign up as a twosome and will be paired with another twosome to create one 4-person team. Handicap indexes will be capped at 60.8 for each twosome.
- The team will score two net best balls of the foursome for each hole.
- CWGA will post scores for this event.
- Handicap reduction will be assigned according to USGA Rules.
- The overall winner of this event will be the 1st place low net team from the field.
Individual Events—Sign up as an Individual
Solheim Cup
- An 18-hole low net tournament. Players will sign up as an individual and will be paired with another individual to form a two-person team to represent either the red/blue team or the black/white team. Maximum individual handicap indexes will be capped at 40.4.
- This is a stroke play format where each two-person team will be competing against the field of the opposing team. No putts may be given.
- Holes 1 through 9 are played as a Best Ball format. Players will score the low net ball of the two.
- Holes 10 through 18 will be a shamble format. Each player drives the ball. The players select the drive to use and then play their own ball in from that point. Players will score the low net ball of the two.
- Scores from this event are not to be posted.
- Each two-person team will enter one 18-hole low net score.
- 18-hole scores from each side will be totaled to determine a winner.
- In the event of uneven sides, scoring will be as follows: If there are 20 red/blue teams and 21 black/white, only the 20 lowest scores from each side will be used to determine a winner.
- All members of the winning team will be awarded a prize Each Club will receive prize money to credit to each members’ accounts.
- The handicap reduction will be 85%.
- The overall winners of this event will be all players on the team (red/blue or black/white) with the lowest cumulative score.
- In the event of a tie, we will begin scorecard playoffs starting with the lowest handicap foursome and continue until a winner has been declared.
Stableford
- An 18-hole stroke play tournament for individual players. Handicap indexes will be capped at 40.4.
- Record your Stableford points based on your net strokes taken:
- Net Double Bogey or higher scores NO points
- Net Bogey scores 1 point
- Net Par scores 2 point
- Net Birdie scores 4 points
- Net Eagle scores 6 points
- Net Double Eagle or better scores 8 points
- This tournament is a qualifier for the Past Presidents’ Award and participants must “hole-out” and record their gross score on every hole.
- Handicap reduction will be assigned according to USGA Rules.
- CWGA will post scores for this event.
- The overall winner of this event will be the individual who accrues the most points.
CWGA Open
- An 18-hole low net stroke play tournament for individual players. Handicap Indexes will be capped at 40.4.
- This tournament is a qualifier for the Past Presidents’ Award and participants must “hole-out” and record their gross score on every hole.
- CWGA will post scores for this event.
- Handicap reduction will be assigned according to USGA Rules.
- The overall winner of this event will be the individual with the lowest net score from the field.
CWGA Home Days
- An 18-hole low net/low gross tournament, played by CWGA members only, at their home club.
- The top three places in both net and gross categories will be awarded prizes. Each Club will receive prize money to credit to members’ accounts.
- The home club association may govern handicap limits.
- Participants may place in either the net or the gross category—not in both.
- Ties will be determined by scorecard playoff.
- Scores from this event must be posted.
CWGA District Championship
The District Championship will consist of the championship flight and the non-championship flights.
Championship flight: For those who choose to qualify for the championship flight, the format will be as follows:
- A four-day tournament comprised of an 18-hole stroke qualifying round on the first day followed by up to three days of match play.
- Results of the qualifying round will determine seeding and flighting for the match play rounds.
- If a player chooses to qualify for the championship flight, she must:
- Notify her intent when registering for the District Championship.
- Play in the stroke play qualifying round that will take place on Tuesday of the qualifying week.
- The championship flight will consist of eight players. The first seed in the championship flight will be reserved for the prior year’s champion.
- The seven lowest gross scores from the qualifying round will complete the flight. They will be seeded solely on the scores from the qualifying round.
- Ties for the eighth position of the championship flight will be determined by a scorecard playoff.
- If the previous year’s champion does not defend her title, the eight lowest gross scores from the qualifying round will be seeded solely on the scores from the qualifying round.
- The flight will be final when scoring has been completed and any ties have been settled by a scorecard playoff.
- Those who do not qualify for the championship flight will be seeded in a non-championship flight. Seeding will be based on their handicap index from the Friday before the event. The score from the Tuesday round will not have any impact on the seeding in the non-championship flights.
- The medalist from the qualifying round will receive the Alice Seagrave charm bracelet to enjoy until the start of the following year’s District Championship.
- Should the medalist winner be disqualified or withdraw from the championship, she will forfeit the medalist honor, and it will go to the person next in line.
- The final match in the championship flight will be a 36-hole match. All other flights, including the championship consolation flight, will be an 18-hole match. All match play contests will be settled by sudden death.
- The qualifying round is a qualifier for the Past Presidents’ Award and participants must “hole-out” and record their gross score on every hole.
- CWGA will post scores from the stroke play qualifying round.
- Per USGA Rules, match play scores must be posted. It is the player’s responsibility to post her own scores from the District Championship.
Non-championship flights: For those who choose to play in a non-championship flight, the format will be as follows:
- The player will be flighted and seeded based on handicap index from the Friday before the event.
- There will be up to three days of match play beginning Wednesday of championship week.
- The player may choose to play or skip the practice round on Tuesday.
- The player will be asked to indicate her intent during registration.
- The cost of the registration is the same whether a practice round is played or not.
- No matter which option is chosen, match play will begin the Wednesday of championship week.
- Pace of play must be adhered to in the practice round.
- Practice rounds played under the rules of golf must be posted by the player.
- Per USGA Rules, match play scores must be posted. It is the player’s responsibility to post her own scores from the District Championship.
